Young Women of Promise selected as MLK Lead Agency by YSA

We are excited that Young Women of Promise has been selected to be a 2014 Lead Agency for MLK Day by Youth Service America.  We will receive a $1,000 grant to support our annual MLK Day of Service events.  Young Women of Promise has sponsored MLK Holiday celebration in Kinston since 2006.

Several service projects will be organized in the Kinston community including projects led by Latino youth members of NC FIELD; the Kinston Department of Public Safety Explorer Post and students at Contentnea/Savannah School. 


Our 7th Annual MLK Holiday Celebration is scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustus AME Zion Church located at 318 East North Street.  Our keynote speaker will be national recording artist and Kinston native, Dr. Negleatha Johnson.
